Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people: "What do you worship?" 70 They said, 'We serve idols, and continue cleaving to them. 71 He said: "Do they listen to you when ye call (on them)?" 72 Or, benefit they you or hurt they you? 73 They answered: "No; but we found our forefathers doing so." 74 Thereupon, Abraham said: "Have you seen (with your eyes) those whom you have been worshipping, 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 Lo! they are (all) an enemy unto me, save the Lord of the Worlds, 77 who has created me and is the One who guides me, 78 “And the One Who feeds me and gives me to drink.” 79 And when I am ill, it is He who cures me 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 “And the One Who, upon Whom I pin my hopes, will forgive me my mistakes on the Day of Judgement.” 82 My Lord! bestow on me wisdom and join me with the righteous. 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 Forgive my father. He has gone astray. 86 And do not disgrace me on the Day they are [all] resurrected - 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 but only he that brings to Allah a sound heart will (attain to success)." 89 And Paradise will be brought near [that Day] to the righteous. 90 And hell will be revealed for the astray. 91 And it will be said unto them: Where is (all) that ye used to worship 92 "Instead of Allah? Can they help you or (even) help themselves?" 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 And the hosts of Iblis, together. 95 "They will say there in their mutual bickerings: 96 'By God, we were certainly in manifest error 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of the Universe. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 So now we have no intercessors 100 no loyal friend. 101 "'Now if we only had a chance of return we shall truly be of those who believe!'" 102 Indeed in this is a sign; and most of them were not believers. 103 Your Lord is certainly Majestic and All-merciful. 104
