The Mountain (Al-Toor)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
I CALL TO witness the Mount Sinai, 1 And by the Book Inscribed. 2 In an outstretched fine parchment, 3 by the much-visited House, 4 And [by] the heaven raised high 5 And [by] the sea filled [with fire], 6 Indeed your Lord’s punishment will surely take place. 7 there is no one who could avert it, 8 Upon the Day when the heaven spins dizzily 9 And the mountains will move away with a (horrible) movement. 10 Woe will be to those who rejected the Truth 11 and who indulged in false disputes against (God's revelations). 12 On the Day when they shall be thrust into Hell with a violent thrust (and shall be told): 13 (it will be said to them): 'This is the Fire which you belied! 14 Is it magic, or you cannot see? 15 Roast in it. Bear it with patience or impatience, it will be the same for you. You will be requited for what you had done." 16 Truly, the God-fearing will dwell [on that Day] in gardens and in bliss, 17 Rejoicing at what their Lord has given them; and their Lord will preserve them from the torment of Hell. 18 (They will be told): “Eat and drink to your hearts' content as a reward for your deeds.” 19 (They shall be) reclining on couches ranged in rows and We shall wed them to houris (virgins of Paradise) with large wide eyes. 20 And those who accepted faith, and whose descendants followed them with faith – We have joined their descendants with them, and have not reduced anything for them from their deeds; every soul is trapped in its own deeds. 21 And We will provide them with fruit and meat from whatever they desire. 22 There, they shall pass from hand to hand a cup which does not lead to any idle talk or sin. 23 ۞ And round them shall go boys of theirs as if they were hidden pearls. 24 They advance one upon another, asking each other questions. 25 "Before this, when we were among our families, we were full of fear of God's displeasure -- 26 But God has granted us favors and saved us from the scorching heat of the torment. 27 Indeed, we used to supplicate Him before. Indeed, it is He who is the Beneficent, the Merciful." 28
