Noah (Nooh)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
We sent Noah to his People (with the Command): "Do thou warn thy People before there comes to them a grievous Penalty." 1 [And Noah] said: "O my people! I am but a plain warner to you, [sent to tell you] 2 That you should worship God and fear Him, and follow me 3 That He may forgive some of your sins and prolong your term till an appointed time. Surely when God's appointed time is come it will not be put off, if only you knew! 4 He said: "O my Lord! Verily, I have called my people night and day (i.e. secretly and openly to accept the doctrine of Islamic Monotheism). 5 But my invitation increased them not except in flight. 6 And whenever I called them, that Thou mightest forgive them, they put their fingers in their ears, and wrapped them in their garments, and persisted, and waxed very proud. 7 “I then called them openly.” 8 Then verily I spake unto them openly and secretly. I also addressed them. 9 Then I said, Ask forgiveness of your Lord, surely He is the most Forgiving: 10 "'He will send rain to you in abundance; 11 "'Give you increase in wealth and sons; and bestow on you gardens and bestow on you rivers (of flowing water). 12 What is [the matter] with you that you do not attribute to Allah [due] grandeur 13 seeing that He has created [every one of] you in successive stages? 14 "'Do you not see how God has created seven heavens in full harmony with one another, 15 And hath made the moon a light therein, and made the sun a lamp? 16 And Allah hath caused you to grow from the earth as a growth. 17 And afterward He maketh you return thereto, and He will bring you forth again, a (new) forthbringing. 18 how God has spread the earth out for you 19 That you may go about therein in broad roads. 20
