Nay, by the Moon 32 By the receding night 33 by the brightening dawn, 34 Indeed, the Fire is of the greatest [afflictions] 35 as a warner to mortals. 36 Whoever of you desires to progress or lag behind. 37 Every soul is held in pledge for what it earns, 38 save the Companions of the Right; 39 [dwelling] In gardens [of paradise,] they will inquire 40 And (ask) of the Sinners: 41 "What has brought you into the Fire of Hell ?" 42 They will say: "We were not of those who used to offer their Salat (prayers) 43 And we used not to feed the poor; 44 We used to wade (in vain dispute) with (all) waders, 45 and rejected the Day of Judgment 46 Till the Inevitable came unto us. 47 Then the intercession of the intercessors shall not profit them. 48 Why then do they turn away from the admonition 49 as though they were frightened wild asses, 50 running away from a lion? 51 No indeed; each one of them desires that open letters be sent to each of them. 52 No indeed; the truth is that they have no fear of the Hereafter. 53 Never so, as this is a reminder. 54 Then whoever wills will remember it. 55 And they shall not heed unless Allah willeth. He is the Lord of piety, and the Lord of forgiveness. 56
Almighty God's Truth.
