The Human (Al-Insan)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 We created man of a sperm-drop, a mingling, and We made him hearing, seeing. 2 We showed him the right path whether he would be grateful or ungrateful. 3 We have indeed kept prepared chains, and shackles and a blazing fire for the disbelievers. 4 The virtuous ones will drink from a cup containing camphor 5 From a spring of which the votaries of God will drink and make it flow in abundance. 6 They perform (their) vows, and they fear a Day whose evil flies far and wide. 7 And they feed, for the love of Allah, the indigent, the orphan, and the captive,- 8 saying, "We feed you for the sake of God alone, we seek neither recompense nor thanks from you. 9 for we fear from our Lord a stern, frownful Day' 10 So Allah saved them from the evil of that day, and gave them freshness and joy. 11 And hath awarded them for all that they endured, a Garden and silk attire; 12 Reclining upon couches, they will find therein neither the heat of the sun nor bitter, biting cold, 13 And close upon them will be the shades thereof, and low will hang the clusters thereof greatly. 14 Rounds of silver cups and silver beakers, looking like glass, will be presented upon them. 15 Godblets of silver, they shall have filled them to exact measure. 16 and they will be given a cup to drink flavoured with ginger, 17 (Of) a fountain therein which is named Salsabil. 18 ۞ And boys of everlasting youth will go about attending them. Looking at them you would think that they were pearls dispersed. 19 And when you look there (in Paradise), you will see a delight (that cannot be imagined), and a great dominion. 20 Upon those [blest] will be garments of green silk and brocade; and they will be adorned with bracelets of silver. And their Sustainer will them to drink of a drink most pure. 21 "Verily this is a Reward for you, and your Endeavour is accepted and recognised." 22
