He Frowned ('Abasa)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ HE FROWNED and turned away 1 because the blind man approached him! 2 What made you think that he will not grow in virtue, 3 Or that he might receive admonition, and the teaching might profit him? 4 Now he who waxes indifferent, 5 to him didst thou give thy whole attention, 6 And not upon you [is any blame] if he will not be purified. 7 And for him who came to you striving, 8 and fearfully, 9 you pay no heed to him. 10 By no means! Verily it is an admonition. 11 So let whosoever will pay heed to it, 12 On honourable pages. 13 Exalted and purified, 14 Written by the hands of emissaries. 15 noble and virtuous scribes. 16 Cursed is man; how disbelieving is he. 17 Of what thing did He create him? 18 From a sperm-drop He created him and destined for him; 19 He makes his path easy for him. 20 Then He caused him to die and made him to be buried. 21 Then, when He will, He bringeth him again to life. 22 By no means he performed not that which He had commanded him. 23 Then let man look at his food, 24 We send down abundant water, 25 Then We broke open the earth, splitting [it with sprouts], 26 to yield therein corn, 27 together with grapes and vegetables, 28 and the olive, and the palm, 29 And enclosed Gardens, dense with lofty trees, 30 And fruits and grass, 31 all this as a provision for you and your cattle. 32 But when the Shout cometh 33 On the day when a man fleeth from his brother 34 mother, father, 35 and his consort and his children; 36 on that Day every man among them will have enough concern of his own -- 37 Some faces on that Day shall be beaming with happiness, 38 Laughing and full of joy, 39 And some faces will on that Day with dust be covered, 40 and veiled with darkness. 41 those will be ones who denied the truth and were immersed in iniquity. 42
