Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
Hath there come unto thee tidings of the Overwhelming? 1 Many a face will be disgraced on that day. 2 laboring, wornout, 3 They will suffer the heat of the blazing fire 4 and will be made to drink from a boiling spring, 5 No food will there be for them but a bitter Dhari' 6 that will neither nourish nor satisfy their hunger. 7 (Other) faces on that day shall be happy, 8 Rejoicing over their efforts. 9 In a Garden on high, 10 Wherein you shall not hear vain talk. 11 with a flowing spring, 12 Therein will be thrones raised high, 13 And cups put in place 14 cushions ranged, 15 And carpets ready spread, 16 Do they not look at the camels, how they are created? 17 And how the heaven was raised up, 18 and how the mountains were firmly fixed? 19 how the earth was outstretched? 20 And so, [O Prophet,] exhort them; thy task is only to exhort: 21 and are not invested with the authority to compel them. 22 As for those who turn their back and disbelieve, 23 Then Allah will punish him with the greatest punishment. 24 Indeed, to Us is their return. 25 Then it will be for Us to call them to account. 26
