When We told the angels to prostrate before Adam they all obeyed except Iblis (satan) who refused. 116 We said, "Adam, this (satan) is your enemy and the enemy of your spouse. Let him not expel you and your spouse from Paradise lest you plunge into misery. 117 Behold, it is provided for thee that thou shalt not hunger here or feel naked, 118 And that you shall not be thirsty therein nor shall you feel the heat of the sun. 119 But Satan whispered evil to him: he said, "O Adam! shall I lead thee to the Tree of Eternity and to a kingdom that never decays?" 120 In the result, they both ate of the tree, and so their nakedness appeared to them: they began to sew together, for their covering, leaves from the Garden: thus did Adam disobey his Lord, and allow himself to be seduced. 121 Then his Lord had mercy on him, accepted his repentance and guided him. 122 He said: "Get ye down, both of you,- all together, from the Garden, with enmity one to another: but if, as is sure, there comes to you Guidance from Me, whosoever follows My Guidance, will not lose his way, nor fall into misery. 123 but whoever turns away from My reminder, will lead a straitened existence and on the Day of Judgement We shall raise him up blind 124 He will say: "O my Lord! why hast Thou raised me up blind, while I had sight (before)?" 125 The Lord will say, "This is true. But just as you forgot Our revelations that had come to you, so, too, are you forgotten on this day." 126 And thus do We recompense he who transgressed and did not believe in the signs of his Lord. And the punishment of the Hereafter is more severe and more enduring. 127 Did they not learn from the many generations that We destroyed before them, whose habitations they now frequent? Verily there are signs in this for men of understanding. 128
