Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
52 verses, revealed in Mecca after Kingship (Al-Mulk) before The Heights (Al-Ma'aarej)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ THE CONCRETE REALITY. 1 What is the concrete reality? 2 And what would make you realize what the sure calamity is! 3 The tribes of Thamud and 'Aad belied the Striking Day. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And the 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious Wind, exceedingly violent; 6 He made it rage against them seven nights and eight days in succession: so that thou couldst see the (whole) people lying prostrate in its (path), as they had been roots of hollow palm-trees tumbled down! 7 Beholdest thou any of them remaining? 8 And there came Pharaoh and those before him and the overturned cities with sin. 9 They did not follow the Messenger of their Lord, and so He seized them with a severe grip. 10 [And] behold: when the waters [of Noah's flood] burst beyond all limits, it was We who caused you to be borne [to safety] in that floating ark, 11 so that We might make it an instructive event for you, and retentive ears might preserve its memory. 12 Then when the Trumpet will be blown with one blowing (the first one), 13 And the earth and the mountains shall be removed from their places, and crushed with a single crushing, 14 So that is the day when the forthcoming event will occur. 15 And the heaven will split asunder, for that day it will be frail. 16 and the angels shall stand upon its borders, and upon that day eight shall carry above them the Throne of thy Lord. 17 On that day all of you will be brought forth, so none among you wishing to hide will be able to hide. 18 Then he that will be given his Record in his right hand will say: "Ah here! Read ye my Record! 19 "Surely, I did believe that I shall meet my Account!" 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In a lofty Garden 22 With fruits hanging low within reach, 23 (They will be told): “Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for the good deeds you did in the days that have passed by.” 24 As for him whose Record will be given to him in his left hand, he will exclaim: “Would that I had never been given my Record, 25 And had not known what is my account. 26 Oh! Would that the death that came to me in the world had made an end of me! 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 There hath perished from me my authority. 29 (It will be said): 'Take him and bind him. 30 And then expose him to hell-fire 31 Then into a chain whose length is seventy cubits insert him." 32 “Indeed he refused to accept faith in Allah, the Greatest.” 33 "And would not encourage the feeding of the indigent! 34 so today he has no friend here, 35 "Nor hath he any food except the corruption from the washing of wounds, 36 “Which none except the guilty shall eat.” 37
