The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 on which they [so utterly] disagree. 3 (What they think is certainly despicable!). They will soon come to know (the reality). 4 Then, no! They are going to know. 5 Have We not made the earth as a cradle 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs. 8 and gave you repose in sleep, 9 And made the night as clothing 10 and We made the day for a livelihood. 11 Have We not made seven strong heavens above you, 12 And have appointed a dazzling lamp, 13 And have sent down from the rainy clouds abundant water. 14 so that We might bring forth thereby grain, and herbs, 15 and thick gardens grow? 16 Surely the Day of Decision is an appointed time, 17 The Day when the Trumpet will be blown, and you shall come forth in crowds (groups); 18 and when the skies are opened and become [as wide-flung] gates; 19 And the mountains shall be moved away from their places and they will be as if they were a mirage. 20 Indeed hell is lying in ambush. 21 For the transgressors a place of destination: 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 tasting therein neither coolness nor any drink 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 for a suitable recompense. 26 For that they used not to fear any account (for their deeds), 27 And rejected Our signs as lies. 28 And everything We have recorded in a book. 29 [And so We shall say:] "Taste, then, [the fruit of your evil doings,] for now We shall bestow on you nothing but more and more suffering!" 30
