The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun (with its spacious light) is folded up; 1 The stars turn dim and scatter, 2 And when the mountains are removed 3 when the ten-months pregnant camels shall be abandoned, 4 and when all beasts are gathered together, 5 and when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when souls are reunited, 7 And when the girl-child who was buried alive is asked. 8 for what sin she was slain, 9 when the scrolls are unrolled, 10 And when the heaven shall be stripped off and taken away from its place; 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 And Paradise brought near, 13 (Then) every soul will know what it had prepared (for itself). 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 Go straight, or hide; 16 The closing night, 17 And by oath of the morning when it takes birth. 18 Verily this is the word of a most honourable Messenger, 19 of power, given a rank by the Owner of the Throne 20 obeyed, and honest. 21 Nor is your companion distracted. 22 And without doubt he saw him in the clear horizon. 23 nor does he grudge (conveying this knowledge about) the Unseen; 24 nor is it a word of an accursed Satan. 25 where then are you going? 26 Verily this is no less than a Message to (all) the Worlds: 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
