Kingship (Al-Mulk)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ BLESSED BE HE who holds the (reins of) Kingship in His hand, who has power over everything, 1 Who created death and life that He might try you as to which of you is better in deed. He is the Most Mighty, the Most Forgiving; 2 Who created the seven heavens one above another; you see no incongruity in the creation of the Beneficent Allah; then look again, can you see any disorder? 3 Then look again and yet again, your sight will return to you in a state of humiliation and worn out. 4 And we have, (from of old), adorned the lowest heaven with Lamps, and We have made such (Lamps) (as) missiles to drive away the Evil Ones, and have prepared for them the Penalty of the Blazing Fire. 5 And for those who disbelieve in their Lord is the punishment of hell, and evil is the resort. 6 When they are thrown into it, they hear from it a [dreadful] inhaling while it boils up. 7 and wellnigh bursts asunder with rage. As often as a troop is cast into it, its keepers ask them, 'Came there no warner to you?'; 8 They will say: yea! surely there came a warner unto us, but we belied, and said: God hath not sent down aught, we are naught but in a great error. 9 And they say: Had we been wont to listen or have sense, we had not been among the dwellers in the flames. 10 So it is that they confess their sins. Curse the inhabitants of the Blaze! 11 Those who fear their Lord in secret will receive forgiveness and a great reward. 12 And whether you keep your talk secret or disclose it, verily, He is the All-Knower of what is in the breasts (of men). 13 How could He who created not know His own creation, when He alone is the Most Subtle in His wisdom and the All Aware? 14
