The News (Al-Naba')
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ Of what do they ask one another? 1 About the Great News 2 Concerning which they are in disagreement. 3 No indeed; soon will they come to know; 4 Surely, they will soon find out the truth! 5 Have We not made the earth an expanse, 6 and fixed the mountains like pegs, 7 We created you in pairs, 8 made sleep for you to rest, 9 made the night as a covering, 10 And made the day for seeking livelihood. 11 And We have builded over you seven strong heavens. 12 And We made a shining lamp, 13 and have sent down from the clouds, pouring rain 14 That We may produce from it grain and vegetation, 15 and gardens dense with foliage. 16 Surely the Day of Judgement has an appointed time; 17 A day when the trumpet is blown and ye come in multitudes, 18 And the heaven shall be opened so that it shall be all openings, 19 and the mountains are set in motion, and become a vapour. 20 Verily the Hell is an ambuscade: 21 The rebels' abode, 22 They will remain in it for ages. 23 They shall not taste therein cool nor drink 24 save boiling water and wash of the wounds; 25 The reward to each is according to what he is. 26 They did not expect such a Judgment 27 and persistently rejected Our revelations. 28 And We have recorded everything in a book, 29 (They will be told), "Suffer, We shall only increase the torment for you". 30
