[AND] the dwellers of the wooded dales [of Madyan] gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 176 Shu'ayb said to them, "Will you not fear God? 177 "I am to you a messenger worthy of all trust. 178 be, then, conscious of God, and pay heed unto me! 179 And I ask of you no wage for it; my wage is the concern only of the Lord of the Worlds. 180 ۞ Give full measure, and be not of those who give less (than the due). 181 “And weigh with a proper balance.” 182 “And do not give the people their goods diminished, and do not roam the earth causing turmoil.” 183 Fear Him who created you, and the generations of the ancients.' 184 They said: "You are only one of those bewitched! 185 You are nothing but a man like us, and we think you are a liar. 186 Then drop down on us lumps from heaven, if thou art one of the truthful.' 187 Shuayb said: "My Lord knows well all what you do." 188 And they denied him, so the punishment of the day of the black cloud seized them. Indeed, it was the punishment of a terrible day. 189 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 190 And verily thy Lord! He is the Mighty, the Merciful. 191
