۞ Gather together those who were unjust and their associates, and what they used to worship 22 instead of God, and lead them all onto the way to the blazing fire, 23 "But stop them, for they must be asked: 24 "What is the matter with you that you do not help each other?" 25 Nay, but that day they shall submit (to Judgment); 26 And some of them draw near unto others, mutually questioning. 27 They will say: "It was you who used to come to us from the right side [i.e. from the right side of one of us and beautify for us every evil, order us for polytheism, and stop us from the truth i.e. Islamic Monotheism and from every good deed]." 28 They will answer, “You yourselves did not have faith!” 29 “And we did not have any control over you; but in fact you yourselves were rebellious.” 30 So our Lord's Word is realised against us; we are tasting it. 31 We mislead you and we ourselves had also gone astray." 32 On that day they will all share the torment. 33 This is how We deal with the criminals. 34 For when it was said to them: 'There is no god except Allah' they were always proud 35 And say: "What! shall we give up our gods for the sake of a Poet possessed?" 36 In fact he has brought the Truth, and testified for the Noble Messengers! 37 Verily, you (pagans of Makkah) are going to taste the painful torment; 38 Ye are requited naught save what ye did - 39 But the bondmen of Allah, the sincere ones 40 For them there is a known provision, 41 Fruits of every kind, and they will be honoured 42 In gardens of delight, 43 They will be seated upon couches set face to face; 44 a goblet from a spring shall be passed round to them 45 delicious to those who drink it 46 no headiness will be in it, and they will not get drunk thereon. 47 Theirs shall be wide-eyed maidens with bashful, restrained glances, 48 as if they were hidden pearls. 49 Then they will turn to one another and question one another. 50 One of them will say: “I had a companion in the world 51 who used to say: -- Are you also one of those who confirm the Truth (of life after death)? 52 "'When we die and become dust and bones, shall we indeed receive rewards and punishments?'" 53 [And] he adds: "Would you like to look [and see him]?" 54 Then, he will look and see him in the midst of Hell. 55 He said: "By Allah! You have nearly ruined me. 56 And had it not been for the favor of my Lord, I would certainly have been among those brought up. 57 Are we not then to die 58 "Except our first death, and we shall not be punished? (after we have entered Paradise)." 59 Truly, this is a great victory!" 60 For the like of this then let the workers work. 61 So is this welcome better, or the tree of Zaqqum? 62 Verily, We have caused it to be a trial for evildoers: 63 Surely it is a tree that-grows in the bottom of the hell; 64 The fruit thereof is as though the hoods of the serpents. 65 And lo! they verily must eat thereof, and fill (their) bellies therewith. 66 Then after it, indeed for them is the drink of boiling hot water. 67 And once again: Verily, the blazing fire is their ultimate goal 68 They found their fathers in error, 69 So they hastened [to follow] in their footsteps. 70 And assuredly there went stray before them many of the ancients. 71 And We had already sent among them warners. 72 Then see what was the end of those who were admonished (but heeded not),- 73 Only Our sincere servants were saved. 74
