The Heifer (Al-Baqarah)
286 verses, revealed in Medina after The Cheaters (Al-Mutaffifeen) before The Spoils of War (Al-Anfaal)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
Alif Lam Mim. 1 This is the Book (the Quran), whereof there is no doubt, a guidance to those who are Al-Muttaqun [the pious and righteous persons who fear Allah much (abstain from all kinds of sins and evil deeds which He has forbidden) and love Allah much (perform all kinds of good deeds which He has ordained)]. 2 the pious who believe in the unseen, attend to prayer, give in charity part of what We have granted them; 3 And who believe in that which has been revealed to you and that which was revealed before you and they are sure of the hereafter. 4 These are on a right course from their Lord and these it is that shall be successful. 5 Verily, those who disbelieve, it is the same to them whether you (O Muhammad Peace be upon him) warn them or do not warn them, they will not believe. 6 Allah has set a seal upon their hearts and upon their hearing and there is a covering over their eyes, and there is a great punishment for them. 7
