Al-Zukhruf 4 of 7
And whosoever blindeth himself to the admonition of the Compassionate, We assign unto him a satan, and he becometh his companion. 36 And indeed, the devils avert them from the way [of guidance] while they think that they are [rightly] guided 37 Till, when he cometh unto Us, he saith (unto his comrade): Ah, would that between me and thee there were the distance of the two horizons - an evil comrade! 38 But nothing will avail you on that day, for you were unjust, and you will be partners in the punishment. 39 Can you make the deaf to hear, or show the blind, and those lost in clear error, the way? 40 And if We take thee away, We surely shall take vengeance on them, 41 Or (if) We show you that wherewith We threaten them, then verily, We have perfect command over them. 42 So, hold fast to the Book that has been revealed to you, you are surely on the right path, 43 And it is undoubtedly an honour for you and your people; and you will soon be questioned. 44 Inquire of apostles We had sent before you if We appointed gods to be worshipped other than Ar-Rahman. 45

How does the memorization exercise algorithm work? At the lowest level 0, all words are visible. While the highest level 9 hides all words. What about at mid-level, like 3, for example? You might think that the algorithm hides precisely 3 out of every nine words. Not quite! At level 3, each word has a 3 out of 9 chance to hide, and 6 out of 9 to be visible. In other words, it is possible, but highly unlikely, for all words at level 3 to be hidden, or, that all of them to be visible! Also, at mid-levels, and in proportion to the difficulty level, hideouts can be partially incomplete or transparent so that words may be partially visible underneath.
