The people of Thamud rejected Our warnings. 23 For they said: "What! a man! a Solitary one from among ourselves! shall we follow such a one? Truly should we then be straying in mind, and mad! 24 Has the reminder been made to light upon him from among us? Nay! he is an insolent liar! 25 It was said to Saleh, “They will soon realise tomorrow who is the mischievous great liar.” 26 Surely We are going to send the she-camel as a trial for them; therefore watch them and have patience. 27 “And inform them that the water is to be shared between them; only those may come whose turn it is.” 28 But they called their companion who took hold of her and hamstrung her. 29 How [terrible] were My punishment and My warnings! 30 We loosed against them one Cry, and they were as the wattles of a pen-builder. 31 And indeed, We have made the Quran easy to understand and remember, then is there any that will remember (or receive admonition)? 32 The people of Lut rejected (his) warning. 33 We let loose on all of them a squall of claystones, except for the house of Lot whom We saved at dawn 34 As a Grace from Us: thus do We reward those who give thanks. 35 And indeed he had warned them of Our seizure – in response they doubted the warnings. 36 And they even sought to snatch away his guests from him, but We blinded their eyes. (They heard:) "Now taste ye My Wrath and My Warning." 37 Indeed an abiding chastisement came upon them in the morning. 38 "Then taste you My Torment and My Warnings." 39 Now We have made the Koran easy for Remembrance. Is there any that will remember? 40
