Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the name of Allah, most benevolent, ever-merciful
۞ Nay, I swear by the Day of Resurrection; 1 No! I swear by the reproachful soul. 2 Thinketh man that We shall not assemble his bones? 3 Indeed, We have the power to restore his very finger tips! 4 Yet man wants to deny what is ahead of him: 5 He asks, "When is the Day of Resurrection?" 6 When the sight is dazed, 7 And the moon is eclipsed 8 And the sun and moon are conjoined, 9 On that Day man will say: "Where (is the refuge) to flee?" 10 No! There is no refuge. 11 To your Lord, that Day, is the [place of] permanence. 12 Then man will be told what he had sent ahead (of good) and what he had left behind. 13 Rather, man, against himself, will be a witness, 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Do not forestall (the revelation before its completion) by acting in haste. 16 Surely on Us (devolves) the collecting of it and the reciting of it. 17 When We recite it, follow its recitation (by Us). 18 Then lo! upon Us (resteth) the explanation thereof. 19 Truly, you love immediate gain 20 and neglect the Hereafter. 21 Some faces will on that Day be bright with happiness, 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 And some faces, that Day, will be Basirah (dark, gloomy, frowning, and sad), 24 In the thought that some back-breaking calamity was about to be inflicted on them; 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and the angels say, "Who will take away his soul, 27 and he thinks that it is the parting 28 And anguish will be heaped upon anguish: 29 To your Lord then will be the driving. 30
