WHAT, THEN, is amiss with such as are bent on denying the truth, that they run about confusedly to and fro before thee, 36 left and right, in numerous groups? 37 Does every man of them hope to enter the Paradise of delight? 38 Nay, verily. Lo! We created them from what they know. 39 But nay! I swear by the Lord of the Easts and the Wests that We are certainly able 40 to replace them by others who would be better than they; and We shall certainly not be overpowered. 41 so leave them to indulge in vain idle talk and amuse themselves, until they face the Day which they have been promised, 42 the Day on which they will hastily come forth from their graves, as though they were hurrying on to the altars of their deities. 43 Their eyes lowered in dejection, ignominy covering them (all over)! such is the Day the which they are promised! 44
