The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ WHEN THE SKY is split asunder, 1 hearing and obeying its Lord, as it must do; 2 when earth is stretched out 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And it hearkeneth to its Lord, and is duteous. 5 [then,] O man - thou [that] hast, verily, been toiling towards thy Sustainer in painful toil - then shalt thou meet Him! 6 Then, he who is given his Book in his right hand 7 shall be called to an easy accounting, 8 And will return unto his folk in joy. 9 And as to him who shall be given his book from behind his back 10 Soon will he cry for perdition, 11 They will suffer the heat of hell fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! 14 But he will indeed! His Lord was ever watching him. 15 I swear by the afterglow of sunset, 16 The Night and its Homing; 17 And [by] the moon when it becomes full 18 That you shall most certainly enter one state after another. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 and when the Qur'an is recited to them, they do not prostrate themselves? ۩ 21 Nay, but they who are bent on denying the truth give the lie [to this divine writ]! 22 And Allah knows best what they hide, 23 So give them news of painful punishment, 24 unless it be such [of them] as [repent, and] attain to faith, and do good works; for theirs shall be a reward unending! 25
