The Mountain (Al-Toor)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
By the mount. 1 And the Scripture inscribed 2 on wide-open scrolls. 3 Consider the long-enduring house [of worship]! 4 By the Canopy Raised High; 5 And by the Ocean filled with Swell;- 6 the torment of your Lord will inevitably take place 7 none can avert that. 8 On the Day whereon the heaven will shake with an awful shaking. 9 and the mountains are in motion, 10 Woe, then, on that Day to those who give the lie (to this Message) 11 Those who sport entering into vain discourses. 12 The Day they are thrust toward the fire of Hell with a [violent] thrust, [its angels will say], 13 This is the Fire which ye were wont to believe. 14 Then is this magic, or do you not see? 15 Enter into it, then bear (it) patiently, or do not bear (it) patiently, it is the same to you; you shall be requited only (for) what you did. 16 Indeed, the righteous will be in gardens and pleasure, 17 Enjoying in that which their Lord has bestowed on them, and (the fact that) their Lord saved them from the torment of the blazing Fire. 18 "Eat and drink with good cheer as a reward for your good deeds," 19 Reclining on couches ranged. And We shall couple them with maidens wide eyed. 20 Those who believe, and whose descendants follow in belief, We will join their descendants to them. And We will not reduce them of anything of their deeds. Every one is pledged for what he has earned. 21 And We shall bestow on them, of fruit and meat, anything they shall desire. 22 There they pass from hand to hand a cup wherein is neither vanity nor cause of sin. 23 ۞ They will be waited upon by immortal youths, like pearls hidden in their shells. 24 They will ask each other questions, 25 Saying, “Indeed before this, we were in our houses, worried.” 26 "But Allah has been good to us, and has delivered us from the Penalty of the Scorching Wind. 27 “Indeed we used to worship Him in our previous life; indeed He only is the Benign, the Most Merciful.” 28
