The Hidden Secret (Al-Muddath-thir)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
O, you, wrapped in your cloak, 1 Arise and warn! 2 and exalt your Lord, 3 And your clothing purify 4 And keep away from Ar-Rujz (the idols)! 5 And show not favour, seeking wordly gain! 6 And persevere in the way of your Lord. 7 And [warn all men that] when the trumpet-call [of resurrection] is sounded, 8 that Day will be a hard and distressing Day. 9 not an easy day for the unbelievers. 10 Leave Me with the one I created alone 11 To whom I granted resources in abundance, 12 and sons that stand in witness. 13 I made things smooth and easy for him, 14 And who yet coveteth that shall increase. 15 By no means! For to Our Signs he has been refractory! 16 I will make a distressing punishment overtake him. 17 He reflected, and then determined 18 May he be accursed, how he planned! 19 What an evil plan he has made! 20 He then dared to lift his gaze. 21 then he frowned and scowled, 22 Then he turned back and was haughty; 23 And said, “This is nothing but magic learnt from earlier men.” 24 This is nothing but the word of a mortal!" 25 I will cast him into hell. 26 And what have you understood, what hell is! 27 It shall not spare, nor leave. 28 making [all truth] visible to mortal man. 29 Over it are nineteen (guards). 30 And We have not made the wardens of the fire others than angels, and We have not made their number but as a trial for those who disbelieve, that those who have been given the book may be certain and those who believe may increase in faith, and those who have been given the book and the believers may not doubt, and that those in whose hearts is a disease and the unbelievers may say: What does Allah mean by this parable? Thus does Allah make err whom He pleases, and He guides whom He pleases, and none knows the hosts of your Lord but He Himself; and this is naught but a reminder to the mortals. 31
