Hath there come upon man (ever) any period of time in which he was a thing unremembered? 1 Surely We have created man from a small life-germ uniting (itself): We mean to try him, so We have made him hearing, seeing. 2 We showed him the way, whether he be grateful or ungrateful. 3 Verily We! We have gotten ready for the infidels chains and collars and a Blaze. 4 Surely the righteous shall drink of a cup the admixture of which is camphor 5 a fountain whereat drink the servants of God, making it to gush forth plenteously. 6 (Because) they perform the vow and fear a day whereof the evil is wide-spreading, 7 And they feed with food, for love of Him, the needy, and the orphan and the captive. 8 [saying, in their hearts,] "We feed you for the sake of God alone: we desire no recompense from you, nor thanks: 9 behold, we stand in awe of our Sustainer's judgment on a distressful, fateful Day!" 10 God will certainly rescue them from the terror of that day and will meet them with joy and pleasure. 11 and their reward for being patient will be a Garden and silk [clothing]. 12 In that [garden] they will on couches recline, and will know therein neither [burning] sun nor cold severe, 13 The shades of Paradise will bend over them, and its fruits will be brought within their easy reach; 14 and there shall be passed around them vessels of silver and goblets of crystal, 15 And crystal clear bottles of silver, of which they will determine the measure themselves. 16 And therein they shall be given to drink of a cup whereof the admixture will be ginger. 17 drawn from a spring (in Paradise) called Salsabil. 18 ۞ They will be served by immortal youths who look like scattered pearls. 19 and when thou seest [anything that is] there thou wilt see [only] bliss and a realm transcendent 20 Upon the inhabitants will be green garments of fine silk and brocade. And they will be adorned with bracelets of silver, and their Lord will give them a purifying drink. 21 It will be said to them, “This is your reward – indeed your efforts have been appreciated.” 22
