The Night (Al-Layl)
21 verses, revealed in Mecca after The All High (Al-A'alaa) before Dawn (Al-Fajr)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
By the night when it enshrouds, 1 And the day when it shines in brightness, 2 By (the mystery of) the creation of male and female;- 3 That your endeavour is for different ends. 4 Then as for him who giveths and feareth Him. 5 and believes in the truth of what is right, 6 We shall surely ease him to the Path of Easing; 7 As for him who was a miser and behaved with aversion (to Allah), 8 And disbelieveth in goodness; 9 We shall pave his way to hardship, 10 and his wealth shall be of no avail to him when he perishes. 11 Verily We take upon Ourselves to guide, 12 And most surely Ours is the hereafter and the former. 13 Therefore I warn you of the fire that flames: 14 None shall reach it but those most unfortunate ones 15 who denied [the truth], and turned away. 16 But save him who fears 17 the Godfearing who spends his wealth to purify himself; 18 And have in their minds no favour from anyone for which a reward is expected in return, 19 except the pleasure of their Lord, the Most High 20 And soon will they attain (complete) satisfaction. 21
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
