۞ And your Lord has commanded that you shall not serve (any) but Him, and goodness to your parents. If either or both of them reach old age with you, say not to them (so much as) "Ugh" nor chide them, and speak to them a generous word. 23 and be humble and tender to them and say: "Lord, show mercy to them as they nurtured me when I was small." 24 Your Lord knows best what is in your hearts; if you are righteous, He is most forgiving to those who constantly turn to Him. 25 (iii) Give to the near of kin his due, and also to the needy and the wayfarer. (iv) Do not squander your wealth wastefully, 26 Do not be a wasteful spender. Squanderers are the brothers of satan. Satan was faithless to his Lord. 27 And if thou [must] turn aside from those [that are in want, because thou thyself art] seeking to obtain thy Sustainer's grace and hoping for it, at least speak unto them with gentle speech. 28 And neither allow thy hand to remain shackled to thy neck, nor stretch it forth to the utmost limit [of thy capacity,] lest thou find thyself blamed [by thy dependants,] or even destitute. 29 Indeed your Lord eases the livelihood and restricts it, for whomever He wills; He Well Knows, Beholds His bondmen. 30
