The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the Event (the resurrection) comes 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 some shall be abased and others exalted. 3 when the earth shall be rocked 4 And the hills are ground to powder 5 they will become like dust scattered around. 6 And you will become divided into three categories. 7 Thus, there shall be such as will have attained to what is right: oh, how [happy] will be they who have attained to what is right! 8 And those on the left hand; how miserable shall those on the left hand be! 9 Then the foremost, how pre-excellent, 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 In the gardens of bliss. 12 A multitude from the ancients. 13 but only a few from the later generations. 14 On couches wrought of gold, 15 they shall recline, facing each other, 16 (and there) shall wait on them immortal youths 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 Unheady, uninebriating; 19 And fruit of what they select 20 And the flesh of fowls that they desire. 21 And (there are) fair ones with wide, lovely eyes, 22 Like unto Pearls well-guarded. 23 shall be their recompense for their deeds. 24 There they shall hear no idle talk, no cause of sin, 25 But only the saying of: Salam!, Salam! (greetings with peace)! 26 The companions of the right - what are the companions of the right? 27 Midst lote-trees thornless. 28 And clusters of banana plants. 29 Lengthened shadows, 30 And water poured out 31 and fruits in abundance, 32 never-ending and unrestricted, 33 And raised couches. 34 Perfectly We formed them, perfect, 35 And have made them virgins. 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
