The News (Al-Naba')
In the name of Allah, the Compassionate, the Merciful
۞ Concerning what are they disputing? 1 Concerning the Great News, 2 concerning which they have disputes. 3 Nay, they will come to know! 4 Again surely yes, they will soon come to know! 5 Have We not made the earth as a wide expanse, 6 The mountains tent-pins? 7 And We have created you in pairs (male and female, tall and short, good and bad, etc.). 8 And have appointed your sleep for repose, 9 and the night as a cover, 10 And made the day as a means of subsistence? 11 And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, 12 and have placed [therein the sun,] a lamp full of blazing splendour. 13 and sent down heavy rains from the clouds 14 That We may bring forth thereby grain and vegetation 15 And gardens of thick growth. 16 Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, 17 The day when the Trumpet will be blown – you will therefore come forth in multitudes. 18 and when the sky shall be opened up and will become all doors; 19 And the hills are set in motion and become as a mirage. 20 Lo! hell lurketh in ambush, 21 A home for the rebellious. 22 They will tarry therein for ages. 23 They will neither taste anything cool in it, nor anything to drink. 24 Save scalding water and corruption. 25 as a fitting recompense for their deeds. 26 They were those who did not expect a reckoning, 27 But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. 28 Everything have We recorded in a Book. 29 Taste therefore. We shall not increase you in aught but torment. 30
