The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ When the sky is rent asunder 1 and obeys its Lord as it must, 2 And when the earth is spread out. 3 and casts forth whatever is in it, and becomes utterly void, 4 And it listens to the command of its Lord – and that befits it. 5 O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). 6 The reckoning of those whose Book of records will be given into their right hands 7 he shall surely receive an easy reckoning 8 And he will return to his family rejoicing. 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he shall call for destruction 11 And he will enter a Blazing Fire. 12 He used to live joyfully among his people, 13 he surely thought he would never revert. 14 Nay, but lo! his Lord is ever looking on him! 15 So I swear by the twilight glow 16 And the night and all it gathers, 17 And by oath of the moon when it is full. 18 you shall surely ride stage after stage. 19 What is the matter with them? Why do they not believe? 20 And, when the Qur'an is recited unto them, worship not (Allah)? ۩ 21 Nay, but those who disbelieve will deny; 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them the good news of a painful chastisement, 24 except the righteously striving believers, who will receive a never-ending reward. 25
