Then, when the Messengers (the angels) came unto the family of Lout (Lot). 61 he said, "You are strangers [to me]." 62 They said: Nay, we have come to you with that about which they disputed. 63 And we have brought unto thee the truth, and verily we say sooth. 64 So set out thou with thy house hold in a portion of the night, and follow thou their backs, and let not one of you look back, and pass whither ye are commanded. 65 And We revealed to him this decree, that the roots of these shall be cut off in the morning. 66 And the inhabitants of the city came rejoicing (at the news of the young men's arrival). 67 Exclaimed [Lot]: "Behold, these are my guests: so put me not to shame, 68 Fear Allah and do not disgrace me' 69 They said: forbade we not thee against the worlds? 70 He said: Here are my daughters, if ye must be doing (so). 71 Verily, by your life (O Muhammad SAW), in their wild intoxication, they were wandering blindly. 72 Then the shout took hold of them at the sunrise. 73 And We turned the city upside down, and rained on them stones of hardened lava. 74 There are certainly signs in that for those who can learn a lesson -- 75 And verily! They (the cities) were right on the highroad (from Makkah to Syria i.e. the place where the Dead Sea is now). 76 In this there is evidence (of the Truth) for the believers. 77 The people of the Wood were also surely wrongdoers. 78 So We punished them too. They are both situated by the highway, clearly visible. 79
