In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
Alif. Lam. Mim. 1 These are the verses of the sagacious Book, 2 a guidance and mercy for the doers of good, 3 who are constant in prayer and dispense charity: for it is they, they who in their innermost are certain of the life to come! 4 They follow the guidance of their Lord and they will have everlasting happiness. 5 Some men there are who buy diverting talk to lead astray from the way of God without knowledge, and to take it in mockery; those -- there awaits them a humbling chastisement. 6 And when Our Verses (of the Quran) are recited to such a one, he turns away in pride, as if he heard them not, as if there were deafness in his ear. So announce to him a painful torment. 7 But for those who believe and do good works are Gardens of Bliss, 8 They will abide in them for ever. The promise of God is true; and He is all-mighty and all-wise. 9 He created the skies without a support, as you can see, and placed stabilisers in the earth that you may dwell at ease as it revolves; and dispersed on it all varieties of creatures, and He sent down water from the skies and grew all kinds of splendid things upon it. 10 [All] this is God's creation: show Me, then, what others than He may have created! Nay, but the evildoers are obviously lost in error! 11
