Resurrection (Al-Qeyaamah)
In the Name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
۞ I swear by the Day of Resurrection. 1 and nay, I swear by the self-reproaching soul! 2 Does man think that We shall not gather his bones? 3 Surely We are able to reform even his finger-tips. 4 But man would fain deny what is before him. 5 He asks: "When will the Day of Resurrection be?" 6 But when sight is confounded 7 and the moon is darkened, 8 And the sun and the moon shall be joined. 9 That day man will say: "Where can I find escape?" 10 But nay: no refuge [for thee, O man]! 11 With your Lord alone will be the retreat on that day. 12 Upon that day man shall be told his former deeds and his latter; 13 Oh, but man is a telling witness against himself, 14 And even if he presents all the excuses he has, none will be listened to. 15 Move not thy tongue with it to hasten it; 16 It is for Us to collect it and to give you (O Muhammad SAW) the ability to recite it (the Quran), 17 And when We read it, follow thou the reading; 18 then it will be for Us to explain it. 19 Nay; the truth is that you love ardently (the good of this world) that can be obtained hastily, 20 And you have forsaken the Hereafter. 21 Upon that day faces shall be radiant, 22 gazing towards their Lord. 23 And [some] faces, that Day, will be contorted, 24 so they might think the Calamity had been inflicted upon them. 25 Nay, but when the life cometh up to the throat 26 and it is said: 'Who is a healing chanter' 27 And he will realise that this is the parting. 28 when his legs are brought together [when affliction is combined with affliction]; 29 that will be the time to be driven to one's Lord. 30
