Overwhelming (Al-Ghaasheyah)
26 verses, revealed in Mecca after Drivers of the Winds (Al-Dhaareyaat) before The Cave (Al-Kahf)
In the Name of Allah, the Most Beneficent, the Most Merciful
Have you heard the story of the overwhelming event (the Day of Judgment)? 1 Some faces will on that Day be downcast, 2 be toiling and worn-out; 3 (Yet) Going into the blazing fire. 4 Made to drink from a boiling spring. 5 they shall have no food but thorns, 6 which gives no strength and neither stills hunger. 7 Many a face will be in serenity on that day. 8 Pleased with their striving,- 9 in a garden sublime, 10 Never hearing idle talk. 11 Within it is a flowing spring. 12 Therein shall be couches elevated! 13 Goblets set, 14 and cushions arrayed 15 and carpets spread out. 16 Do they never reflect on the camels and how they were created, 17 And the heavens, how it was raised high; 18 And at the mountains, how firmly they are reared? 19 And the earth: how it was spread out? 20 So remind them (O Muhammad (Peace be upon him)), you are only a one who reminds. 21 thou art not charged to oversee them. 22 But whosoever will turn back and disbelieve 23 God shall chastise him with the greatest chastisement. 24 Indeed, to Us they shall return, 25 Then verily, for Us will be their reckoning. 26
God Almighty has spoken the truth.
