And recite to them the news of Abraham, 69 when he asked his father and others, "What do you worship?" 70 They answered: We worship idols, and we remain ever devoted to them." 71 (Abraham) asked: "Do they hear when you call them? 72 'Can they benefit you or harm you' 73 They replied: 'No, but we found our fathers doing so' 74 (Abraham) said, "Do you know that what you worship 75 you and those ancient forebears of yours? 76 are my enemies? Not so the Lord of the Universe. 77 Who created me and Who guides me; 78 Who gives me food and drink, 79 and when I fall ill, is the One who restores me to health, 80 "Who will cause me to die, and then to life (again); 81 And who I aspire that He will forgive me my sin on the Day of Recompense." 82 (And then Abraham prayed): "My Lord, endow me with knowledge and wisdom and join me with the righteous, 83 give me a good name among later generations; 84 And put me among the inheritors of Paradise. 85 "And forgive my father - for, verily, he is among those who have gone astray 86 And do not disgrace me on the day when they are raised from the graves, 87 on the Day of Judgment when neither wealth nor children will be of any benefit 88 But only one who comes to Allah with a sound heart." 89 And Paradise will be brought close for the pious. 90 And hell will appear plainly to the erring. 91 And it will be said to them, "Where are those you used to worship 92 Other than Allah? Can they help you or help themselves?" 93 "Then they will be thrown headlong into the (Fire),- they and those straying in Evil, 94 And the hosts of Iblis all together. 95 And they, while contending therein, shall say: 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we considered you equal to the Lord of the Universe. 98 And none has brought us into error except the Mujrimun [Iblis (Satan) and those of human beings who commit crimes, murderers, polytheists, oppressors, etc.]. 99 “So now we do not have any intercessors.” (The believers shall have intercessors, the disbelievers none). 100 Nor any loving friend. 101 Would that we might return again, and be among the believers' 102 Surely in that is a sign, yet most of them are not believers. 103 surely, your Lord is the Mighty One, the Merciful. 104
