A Sign for them is the earth that is dead: We do give it life, and produce grain therefrom, of which ye do eat. 33 and We made therein gardens of palms and vines, and therein We caused fountains to gush forth, 34 That they may eat of His fruit. And their hands have not produced it, so will they not be grateful? 35 Purity is to Him Who created all pairs, from what the earth grows, and of themselves, and from the things they do not know. 36 They have a sign in the night: We withdraw from it the [light of] day -- and they are left in darkness. 37 And the sun runs his course for a period determined for him: that is the decree of (Him), the Exalted in Might, the All-Knowing. 38 And (as for) the moon, We have ordained for it stages till it becomes again as an old dry palm branch. 39 It is not permitted to the sun that it should overtake the moon, nor can the night outstrip the day: each in an orbit, they float. 40 And a sign for them is that We carried their offspring in the laden Ark (of Noah). 41 and created for them similar things to ride. 42 And if We will, We shall drown them, and there will be no shout (or helper) for them (to hear their cry for help) nor will they be saved. 43 unless it be by an act of mercy from Us and a grant of life for a [further span of] time. 44 And [yet,] when they are told, "Beware of [God's insight into] all that lies open before you and all that is hidden from you, so that you might be graced with His mercy," [most men choose to remain deaf;] 45 Never came a token of the tokens of their Lord to them, but they did turn away from it! 46 When they are told: "Spend of what God has given you," the unbelievers say to those who believe: "Why should we feed those whom God should have fed if He pleased?" You are only in palpable error. 47 And they say: When will this threat come to pass, if you are truthful? 48 They must be waiting for but one single blast, which will overtake them while they are still disputing. 49 So they shall not be able to make a bequest, nor shall they return to their families. 50
