[AND] the people of Lot gave the lie to [one of God's] message-bearers 160 When their brother Lot said to them: "Will you not take heed? 161 I am a trustworthy messenger to you: 162 "So fear Allah and obey me. 163 "No reward do I ask of you for it (my Message of Islamic Monotheism), my reward is only from the Lord of the 'Alamin (mankind, jinns and all that exists). 164 What, do you come to the males of the world, 165 keeping yourselves aloof from all the [lawful] spouses whom your Sustainer has created for you? Nay, but you are people who transgress all bounds of what is right!" 166 They said: "O Lot! If you do not desist, you will be one of those expelled (from our towns)." 167 He said: 'Truly, I am a detester of what you do' 168 Lord, save me and my family from their deeds." 169 So We saved him and his family, all, 170 except an old woman who was among those that stayed behind. 171 then We totally destroyed the rest, 172 And We showered a rain upon them; so what a wretched rain for those who were warned! 173 Surely there is a Sign in this, but most of them would not believe. 174 And indeed your Lord – only He is the Almighty, the Most Merciful. 175
