Have you seen him who turns his back, 33 And gave a little, then was grudging? 34 Does he possess the knowledge of the Unseen, and therefore he sees? 35 Or has he not been informed of what was in the scriptures of Moses 36 And of Ibrahim who faithfully fulfilled? 37 that no soul shall bear the burden of another; 38 and that man shall have nothing but what he has striven for, 39 And that his effort will soon be scrutinised? 40 Then he will be recompensed with a full and the best recompense. 41 And that to your Lord is your returning; 42 It is He who causes laughter and weeping. 43 It is He who causes death and gives life. 44 And that He createth the two spouses, the male and the female, 45 From a drop (of seed) when it is poured forth; 46 and that [therefore] it is within His power to bring about a second life; 47 And that it is He Who enricheth and preserveth property. 48 and that it is He alone who sustains the brightest star; 49 and that He destroyed Ad, the ancient, 50 And the Thamud nor gave them a lease of perpetual life. 51 And the folk of Noah aforetime, Lo! they were more unjust and more rebellious; 52 He plunged the villages 53 and covered them with torment. 54 Which of your Lord's benefits will you then dispute about? 55 This is a warner from the warners of ancient times. 56 The Hour that was to come draws ever nearer. 57 There shall be none besides Allah to remove it. 58 Do you, perchance, find this tiding strange? 59 Will you laugh at it rather than weep? 60 Wasting your (precious) lifetime in pastime and amusements (singing, etc.). 61 Rather prostrate yourselves before Allah and serve Him. ۩ 62
