The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 And when the earth is flattened out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; 5 O man! surely you must strive (to attain) to your Lord, a hard striving until you meet Him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 Soon will his account be taken by an easy reckoning, 8 And will return to his family in joy! 9 And whoever is given his record of deeds behind his back – 10 he will in time pray for utter destruction: 11 and he shall roast at a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 Truly, did he think that he would not have to return (to Us)! 14 Yea! his Lord had ever been beholding him. 15 So indeed I call to witness the evening twilight, 16 And by the night and all that it enshroudeth, 17 And by the moon when it is at the full, 18 That ye shall journey on from plane to plane. 19 So, wherefore do they not believe? 20 And when the Qur'an is recited to them do not bow in adoration? ۩ 21 But on the contrary the Unbelievers reject (it). 22 And Allah is most knowing of what they keep within themselves. 23 Therefore give them the glad tidings of a painful punishment. 24 Except to those who believe and work righteous deeds: For them is a Reward that will never fail. 25
