The Stars (Al-Najm)
In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful
By the star when it descends, 1 Your companion (Muhammad SAW) has neither gone astray nor has erred. 2 Neither does he speak of his own will. 3 This is only revelation communicated, 4 He was taught by [an angel] who is mighty in power, 5 and endowed with wisdom; who in time manifested himself; 6 And reached the highest pinnacle. 7 and then drew near, and came close, 8 And was at a distance of but two bow-lengths or (even) nearer; 9 Then he revealed to Allah's servant whatever he had to reveal. 10 His heart did not falsify what he perceived. 11 Will ye then dispute with him concerning what he seeth? 12 And verily he saw him yet another time 13 to the Lot-tree (in the seven heavens) 14 near which is Paradise. 15 When that which covers covered the lote-tree; 16 his eye swerved not; nor swept astray. 17 Indeed he (Muhammad SAW) did see, of the Greatest Signs, of his Lord (Allah). 18 (Can anything as such be considered true) of al-Lat, al-Uzza, 19 and, another, the third manat? 20 Is the male for you and for Him the female? 21 Then that is surely a very unjust distribution! 22 They are nothing but some names that you have coined, you and your forefathers – Allah has not sent any proof for them; they follow only guesses and their own desires; whereas the guidance from their Lord has come to them. 23 Shall man have whatsoever he wisheth for! 24 Nay! for Allah is the hereafter and the former (life). 25
