The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the name of God, The Most Gracious, The Dispenser of Grace
۞ When the event befalleth - 1 (and none denies its descending) 2 It will bring down [some] and raise up [others]. 3 When the earth shall be shaken to its depths, 4 And the mountains will be powdered to dust. 5 So that they become dust seattered. 6 you shall be divided into three parties, 7 The people of the right hand - those whose books of records will be placed in their right hands. How happy they will be! 8 And the Companions of the Left Hand,- what will be the Companions of the Left Hand? 9 And those who surpassed have indeed excelled. 10 those are they brought nigh the Throne, 11 In gardens of tranquility; 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few from the latter. 14 On couches in wrought with gold. 15 reclining on them facing each other; 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 With goblets, (shining) beakers, and cups (filled) out of clear-flowing fountains: 18 No after-ache will they receive therefrom, nor will they suffer intoxication: 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 Bird meats that they relish, 21 They will have maidens with large, lovely black and white eyes, 22 Like pearls safely hidden. 23 a recompense for that they laboured. 24 Not frivolity will they hear therein, nor any taint of ill,- 25 Except the saying, “Peace, peace.” 26 And those on the right hand; what of those on the right hand? 27 They shall be in the midst of thornless lote trees, 28 Among Talh (banana-trees) with fruits piled one above another, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And water poured out 31 And fruit abundant. 32 Neither ending nor forbidden. 33 And carpets raised. 34 and the noble maidens that We have created 35 and made them virgins, 36 Loving (their husbands only), equal in age. 37 with those who have attained to righteousness: 38
