Vanity (Al-Zukhruf)
Allah - beginning with the name of - the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
Ha-Mim. [These letters are one of the miracles of the Quran, and none but Allah (Alone) knows their meanings]. 1 By the Scripture which maketh plain, 2 We verily, have made it a Quran in Arabic, that you may be able to understand (its meanings and its admonitions). 3 It (the Quran) exists in the original Book with Us which is certainly Most Exalted, full of wisdom and (beyond linguistic structures). 4 What! shall We then turn away the reminder from you altogether because you are an extravagant people? 5 How many a Prophet We sent among the ancients, 6 But never did a prophet come at whom they did not scoff. 7 so We destroyed men stronger in valour than they, and the example of the ancients passed away. 8 Yet if you were to ask them: “Who created the heavens and the earth?” they will certainly say: “The All-Mighty, the All-Knowing has created them.” 9 (It is) He who made the earth to be a cradle for you and made in it ways for you, in order that you are guided. 10 He Who sent down water from the sky in a determined measure, and thereby We revived a dead land: likewise will you be raised up (from the earth) -- 11 He Who created all the pairs, and appointed for you ships and cattle whereupon ye ride. 12 so that when you are mounted upon them you may remember the bounty of your Lord, and say: “Glory be to Him Who has subjected this to Us whereas we did not have the strength to subdue it. 13 surely unto our Lord we are turning.' 14 And from* His bondmen, they appointed a portion for Him; man is indeed an open ingrate. (* Appointed some of His creation as His sons and daughters). 15
