Tell them the story of Abraham, 69 When he said to his father and his people, "What do you worship?" 70 They said, "We worship idols and will continue to cling to them." 71 He said: "Do they hear you, when you call (on them)? 72 "Or do you good or harm?" 73 They exclaimed: But we found our forefathers doing the same!" 74 He said, 'And have you considered what you have been serving, 75 you and your forefathers of yore? 76 they are all my enemies, not so the Lord of the Universe, 77 Who created me and showed me the way, 78 And it is He who feeds me and gives me drink. 79 "And when I am ill, it is He who cures me. 80 And who will cause me to die and then bring me to life 81 and who I am eager shall forgive me my offence on the Day of Doom. 82 My Lord, give me Judgment, and join me with the righteous, 83 And appoint for me an honourable mention among the posterity 84 And make me one of the inheritors of the Garden of Delight. 85 “And forgive my father* – he is indeed astray.” (His paternal uncle) 86 “And do not disgrace me on the day when everyone will be raised.” 87 the Day on which neither wealth will be of any use, nor children, 88 except what is done in obedience to God with a submissive heart. 89 "To the righteous, the Garden will be brought near, 90 And the hell shall be made manifest to the erring ones, 91 who will be asked, "What did you worship 92 apart from God? Do they help you or help themselves?' 93 Then the idols and those who strayed will be hurled into the Fire headlong, one upon another, 94 and the hosts of Iblis - all together. 95 There they will quarrel with one another and the erring ones will say (to their deities): 96 "We were clearly misguided 97 when we made you equal with the Lord of all Being. 98 It was naught but the sinners that led us astray; 99 And now we have none to intercede for us, 100 nor a loving friend. 101 Would that we could have a chance to live again so that we might become believers." 102 Indeed in that is a sign, but most of them were not to be believers. 103 And verily thy Lord is He, the Exalted in Might, Most Merciful. 104
