Incontestable (Al-Haaqqah)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
۞ The Inevitable! (Day of Judgment). 1 What is the Inevitable Hour? 2 And what could make thee conceive what that laying-bare of the truth will be? 3 (The tribes of) Thamud and A'ad disbelieved in the judgment to come. 4 the Thamud were destroyed by a terrible storm of thunder and lightning; 5 And as for 'Ad, they were destroyed by a furious violent wind; 6 Which He made to prevail against them for seven nights and eight days unremittingly, so that you might have seen the people therein prostrate as if they were the trunks of hollow palms. 7 Do you now see any trace of them? 8 And Pharaoh, and those before him, and the Cities Overthrown, committed habitual Sin. 9 They disobeyed the Messenger of their Lord and He seized them with torment which increased with time. 10 Surely We bore you up in the ship when the water rose high, 11 That We might make it for you a reminder and [that] a conscious ear would be conscious of it. 12 And when the trumpet is blown with a single blast, 13 And the earth with the mountains shall be lifted up and crushed with one crash, 14 then, on that day, the Terror shall come to pass, 15 And the heaven shall be rent in sunder, it on that Day shall be frail. 16 And the angels will be on its sides, and eight will, that Day, bear the Throne of thy Lord above them. 17 That Day, you will be exhibited [for judgement]; not hidden among you is anything concealed. 18 Then he who is given his record in his right hand will exclaim, "Here is my record, read it. 19 "I did really understand that my Account would (One Day) reach me!" 20 Then he shall be in a life well-pleasing 21 In a lofty Paradise, 22 its fruits are near. 23 Eat and drink pleasantly for what you did beforehand in the days gone by. 24 But as for him who is given his record in his left hand, he will say: Oh, would that I had not been given my book 25 "And that I had never realised how my account (stood)! 26 I wish death had put an end to me. 27 My wealth has not availed me, 28 My power hath gone from me. 29 [Thereupon the command will go forth:] "Lay hold of him, and shackle him, 30 and then let him enter Hell. 31 then in a chain seventy arm's lengths long insert him. 32 Indeed, he did not use to believe in Allah, the Most Great, 33 Nor urged others to feed the poor. 34 Today he shall have no loyal friend here, 35 “Nor any food except the pus discharged from the people of hell.” 36 which no one will eat except the sinners. 37
