Dispatched (Al-Mursalaat)
50 verses, revealed in Mecca after The Backbiter (Al-Hummazah) before Q (Qaaf)
In the name of Allah, the Entirely Merciful, the Especially Merciful
By the emissary winds, (sent) one after another 1 Which then blow violently in tempestuous Gusts, 2 By the spreading winds spreading. 3 And the scattering winds scattering. 4 Then spread abroad a Message, 5 To clear or to warn. 6 Indeed, what you are promised is to occur. 7 When the stars shall be extinguished, 8 And when the heaven is cloven asunder. 9 And when the mountains are carried away as dust, 10 And when the messengers are brought unto their time appointed - 11 to what day shall they be delayed? 12 The Day of Judgement. 13 How will you comprehend what the Day of Judgement is? 14 Woe on that Day to those who reject the truth. 15 Did We not destroy the men of old (for their evil)? 16 Then We will follow them with the later ones. 17 So We serve the sinners. 18 Woe on that day unto the beliers! 19 Did We not create you out of a humble fluid 20 which We then let remain in [the womb's] firm keeping 21 For a certain appointed time, 22 See that We had the power to do so. Great indeed is Our power to do what We will. 23 Woe, on that Day unto those who give the lie to the truth! 24 Have We not caused the earth to hold within itself 25 for the living and for the dead? 26 And have placed therein firm and tall mountains and given you to drink of water fresh 27 Ah woe, that Day, to the Rejecters of Truth! 28 "Go to what you used to deny; 29 Proceed to a shadow rising in three columns: 30 unshading against the blazing flame 31 which - behold! - will throw up sparks like [burning] logs, 32 and yellow camels. 33 Woe on that day to the rejecters. 34 This is a Day they will not speak, 35 Nor given leave to make excuses. 36 Woe that Day to the deniers (of the Day of Resurrection)! 37 This is the day of decision: We have gathered you and those of yore. 38 If now ye have any craft, try that craft upon Me. 39 Woe, that Day, to the deniers. 40
