The Rolling (Al-Takweer)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
When the sun shall be wound round, 1 And when the stars darken, 2 And when the mountains shall made to pass away; 3 And when the she-camels big with young shall be abandoned, 4 And when the wild animals are made to go forth, 5 And when the seas are set on fire, 6 And when the souls are paired 7 When the female (infant), buried alive, is questioned - 8 For what sin she was killed 9 the records of deeds are made public, 10 And when the sky is torn away, 11 And when hell is lighted, 12 when Paradise shall be brought nigh, 13 A soul will [then] know what it has brought [with it]. 14 I swear by the receding stars, 15 the planets that run their course and set, 16 and the night that falls, 17 And the Dawn as it breathes away the darkness;- 18 truly this is the word of a noble Messenger 19 [Who is] possessed of power and with the Owner of the Throne, secure [in position], 20 One (to be) obeyed, and faithful in trust. 21 Your companion is not possessed; 22 he truly beheld [the angel - beheld] him on the clear horizon; 23 And he is of the unseen not a tenacious concealer. 24 Nor is this [message] the word of any satanic force accursed. 25 Then where are you going? 26 It is nothing but Good Counsel for everyone in the world, 27 Unto whomsoever of you willeth to walk straight. 28 But you cannot will it unless God, the Lord of the Universe, so wills it [to show you that way]. 29
