The Splitting (Al-Inshiqaaq)
In the Name of God, the Merciful, the Compassionate
۞ When the heaven is split asunder, 1 obeying its Sustainer, as in truth it must; 2 when the earth flattens out, 3 and throws out of itself all that it contains 4 And obeys its Lord and it must. 5 O man, indeed you have to surely run towards your Lord, and to meet him. 6 And as for him whose record shall be placed in his right hand, 7 Will have an easy reckoning, 8 and he will return to his family joyfully. 9 But as for those whose Book of records will be given behind their backs, 10 Soon he will pray for death. 11 And he shall roast into a Blaze. 12 Truly, did he go about among his people, rejoicing! 13 He verily deemed that he would never return (unto Allah). 14 This is a fact. Their Lord is Well-Aware of (all that they do). 15 So I do call to witness the ruddy glow of Sunset; 16 And by the night and that which it driveth together, 17 And by the moon when she becometh full. 18 you will progress from stage to stage. 19 What then is the matter with them, that they believe not?- 20 And that, when the Qur'an is read unto them, they prostrate not them-selves! ۩ 21 Yea those who disbelieve belie. 22 But God knows what they harbour in their breasts. 23 So give them tidings of a painful punishment, 24 except those that believe, and do righteous deeds -- theirs shall be a wage unfailing. 25
