Mention the story of Abraham, the truthful Prophet, in the Book (the Quran) 41 (And remind people) when he said to his father: "Father! Why do you worship that which neither sees nor hears, and which can be of no avail to you? 42 Father, I have been given some knowledge which has not come to you, so follow me: I shall guide you along a straight path. 43 Father, serve not Satan; surely Satan is a rebel against the All-merciful. 44 O my father, I fear lest a punishment from Ar-Rahman should befall you, and you should become a friend of the Devil." 45 The father said: "Abraham, have you turned away from my gods? If you do not give this up, I shall stone you to death. Now begone from me forever." 46 He answered: "Peace be on you. I will seek forgiveness of my Lord for you. He has been gracious to me. 47 But I shall withdraw from you all and from whatever you invoke instead of God, and shall invoke my Sustainer [alone]: it may well be that my prayer [for thee] will not remain unanswered by my Sustainer." 48 So when he had left them and those they worshipped other than Allah, We gave him Isaac and Jacob, and each [of them] We made a prophet. 49 And bestowed on them some of Our blessings, and gave them high renown. 50
