Verily this is a Revelation from the Lord of the Worlds: 192 The Trustworthy Spirit brought it down. (Angel Jibreel – peace be upon him.) 193 Upon your heart, [O Muhammad] - that you may be of the warners - 194 In plain Arabic language. 195 And most surely the same is in the scriptures of the ancients. 196 Is it not a Sign to them that the Learned of the Children of Israel knew it (as true)? 197 And had We revealed it unto any of the non-Arabs, 198 And he had recited it to them [perfectly], they would [still] not have been believers in it. 199 Even so We have caused it to enter into the hearts of the sinners, 200 who will not believe in it, until they see the painful chastisement 201 so that it will come upon them suddenly, while they are unaware, 202 Then they will say: are we to be respited? 203 What! do they still seek to hasten on Our punishment? 204 Hast thou then seen, if We content them for (long) years, 205 And then cometh that which they were promised, 206 of what avail would their past enjoyment be to them? 207 Never did We destroy a population, but had its warners - 208 By way of reminder; and We never are unjust. 209 And this Qur’an was not brought down by the devils. 210 it behoves them not, neither are they able. 211 Indeed they are debarred from even hearing it. 212 So do not call upon another god with Allah, lest you should be one of those who are punished. 213 And warn, [O Muhammad], your closest kindred. 214 and be kind to your believing followers. 215 If they disobey you, tell them, "I condemn your disobedient deeds". 216 Have trust in the Majestic and All-merciful God, 217 Who seeth thee when thou standest up 218 and when thou turnest about among those who bow. 219 Verily! He, only He, is the All-Hearer, the All-Knower. 220 Shall I tell you on whom the satans descend? 221 They descend on every guilty impostor. 222 Who listens to you (for spreading rumours); but most of them are liars. 223 And the poets - [only] the deviators follow them; 224 Do you not see that they wander about in every valley 225 And that they say that which they do not? 226 Save those who believe and do good works, and remember Allah much, and vindicate themselves after they have been wronged. Those who do wrong will come to know by what a (great) reverse they will be overturned! 227
