Hath there come unto thee the story of Ibrahim's honoured guests? 24 When they came to him they said, "Peace!" He answered, "Peace!" [saying to himself]. "They are strangers." 25 Then he went apart unto his housefolk so that they brought a fatted calf; 26 And he set it before them, and said: wherefore eat ye not? 27 Then he became afraid of them. They said: “Fear not,” and announced to him the good news of (the birth of) a boy endowed with knowledge. 28 So his wife came screaming, and striking her forehead cried, “What! For a barren old woman?” 29 They said: “So has your Lord said (that you shall have a boy). Surely He is Most Wise, All-Knowing.” 30 ۞ 'Messengers' said he (Abraham), 'what is your errand' 31 They said: Surely we are sent to a guilty people, 32 To send down upon them stones of clay, 33 marked with thy Lord for the prodigal. 34 So We removed the people who had faith, from that town. 35 but We found not therein except one house of those that have surrendered themselves. 36 And We left therein a sign for those who fear the afflictive torment. 37 As (there was) in Moses when We sent him to the Pharaoh with clear authority. 38 But he turned his back, he and his courtiers, and said, "This is a sorcerer or a madman." 39 So We took him and his forces, and threw them into the sea; and his was the blame. 40 And in (the tribe of) A'ad (there is a portent) when we sent the fatal wind against them. 41 that left nothing that it came upon without reducing it to rubble. 42 And in Thamud (there is also a sign), when they were told: "Enjoy yourselves for a while!" 43 But they rebelled against their Lord's decree, and so the thunderbolt overtook them even while they gazed; 44 for they were unable even to rise, and could not defend themselves. 45 And before them the nation of Noah, indeed they were a debauched nation. 46
