The Inevitable (Al-Waaqe'ah)
In the Name of Allah, the Merciful, the Most Merciful
۞ When the inevitable event comes, 1 and there can be no denying its happening, 2 Abasing (some), exalting (others); 3 When the earth is shaken with convulsion 4 and the mountains are totally shattered and crumble to pieces 5 So that they become a scattered dust, 6 [on that Day] you shall be divided into three groups. 7 The People on the Right: and how fortunate will be the People on the Right! 8 And (then) those on the left hand; what of those on the left hand? 9 As for the Foremost, they will be the foremost! 10 They shall be near-stationed (to their Lord), 11 in the beautiful Paradise. 12 A large group from the earlier generations. 13 And a few of those (foremost) will be from the later time (generations). 14 They (will be seated) on gold-encrusted couches, 15 reclining upon them, set face to face, 16 Surrounded by immortal boys. 17 with goblets, and ewers, and cups filled with water from unsullied springs 18 They shall not be affected with headache thereby, nor shall they get exhausted, 19 And fruit that they prefer 20 And with flesh of fowls from that which they desire. 21 And (there will be) Houris (fair females) with wide, lovely eyes (as wives for the pious), 22 Like pearls within their shells, 23 As reward for what they used to do. 24 They will not hear any unnecessary or sinful talk 25 Other than "Peace, peace" the salutation. 26 And the fellows on the right hand; how be happy shall the fellows on the right hand be! 27 [They, too, will find themselves] amidst fruit laden lote-trees, 28 and clustered bananas, 29 And spreading shade, 30 And in perpetually flowing water. 31 And fruit in plenty 32 That will neither finish, nor ever be stopped. 33 And raised couches. 34 Indeed We formed them (the houris and all believing women), 35 Then We have made them virgins, 36 Beloved (by nature), equal in age,- 37 for the Companions of the Right 38
